Essential Skills
For various reasons, most of our clients have had difficulty in accessing mainstream education. They may have been diagnosed with a specific difficulty such as dyslexia or may simply require a more practically based learning environment. Their difficulties may also be linked with a history of behaviour problems. At Wheelbase, clients follow an individual training plan linked to their learning style. The course is designed to underpin the QCA Key Skills at Level 1 and includes units from:
These all develop broad transferable skills that help to give clients more choices in the future. Wheelbase classroom staff have received training in dealing with specific learning difficulties, mental health issues and challenging behaviour. Classes are small and there is a great deal of one-to-one support from our dedicated team of volunteers. |
