Wheebase is an OCR accredited centre for the delivery of Entry Level motor vehicle training and essential skills with the course being designed for those young people who are not adequately accessing mainstream education.
The curriculum is designed so that clients can achieve bite size units which are evidenced in non conventional ways e.g. photos, videos and witness statements. This increases confidence and motivation.
In our new building we shall have more space and scope for the young people to gain Level 1 qualifications in motor vehicle, literacy, numeracy and Key Skills. We shall also be moving towards accreditation through the Nottinghamshire Diploma.
Although we are a motor project, we do not only develop motor vehicle skills or prepare all our young people to be mechanics. The major skills we deliver, such as team-working ability, punctuality, attendance and concentration are generic skills that help clients to improve their quality of life and avoid exclusion from the job market.
The motor vehicle course has strong elements of social skills, literacy and numeracy embedded in it and provides the encouragement for young people to attend and achieve.
