Summer Activities at Wheelbase 2010

Summer is nearly here again and Wheelbase will be running the same successful and popular service as last year.

We will be opening our Workshop from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday and welcome any young people from Nottingham and Nottinghamshire aged 14 - 19 (25 with a disability).

What we do during the sessions is decided by the young people who attend. Here are some things we did last year:

Camping near Sherwood forest

Football

Basketball

Chinese day (with food & tai chi)

Go karting on a professional track

Jewellery making

Engineering projects

WE ARE NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR ACADEMIC PLACES

Full time and part time academic places are currently available for referral for 2010/11.

We offer:

Basic literacy and Numeracy skills

Life skills and personal development

OCR qualifications (many attendees leave with the equivalent of 10 GCSEs)

IMI (Motor Industry) Qualification recognised by apprentice schemes and employers

Placements can be full time or one, two or three days.

Young people referred to us will spend half of every day in the classroom (working towards basic skills, FLT and OCR units) and the other half in our professionally equipped workshop (working towards IMI qualifications).

We have places available for years 10 and 11 in the academic year 2010/11.

The Social Enterprise Loan Fund were able to assist us with a loan that helped us turn a previously derelict building in to a fantastic educational resource.
